Lesson 1: Setting Up a Free Blog

If you’ve been thinking about blogging, there are a couple of things to keep in mind–especially if you are considering setting up a free blog.

Two popular blogging platforms are Blogger and WordPress. Both will allow you to set up a free blog but there are important differences.

• WordPress is a well known blogging platform but the free WordPress has limitations. You cannot incorporate AdSense.
• Blogger allows you to include AdSense adds, so if you are looking to make money from your blog down the road, this may be a workable option.
• While you could pay for a domain name and hosting, setting up a free blog makes sense if you don’t want to spend the money to set up a blog.

A free blog is a good way to get your feet wet with blogging. With a free blog, you can still link to your articles, thus promoting your writing and increasing your earnings.
